Java Developer - Software Engineer II
Moebius Solutions, Inc. is a small software consulting firm based in San Diego, CA. We currently have over 20 employees and a brisk business supporting both DoD and civilian customers. Subject matter expertise includes many C2 systems such as C2PC, GCCS, XCOP, OTM, along with other mappings systems such as Google Earth and NASA's World Wind.

Moebius Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Java Developer experienced in network streaming, web application, web GIS, data transformation, and video processing. This is an exempt, full-time, W2 position (NOT contracting) that will be directly supporting the Department of Defense; this position will be based on-site at Camp Pendleton, CA therefore, US citizenship is required (you will have to be able to obtain a DoD clearance).
As the selected candidate, you would be part of a joint venture between the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps tasked with designing a next generation Ground Control Station (GCS) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Interesting features of this platform include: storage and retrieval of classified video content, distribution of video content via web applications, correlation of UAV tracking information with video data, and injection of telemetry data into other C2 systems. The video management piece is already slated for use in additional DoD projects, so a certain amount of longevity is built-in.
As as J2EE Developer, you would be responsible for developing net-centric, C2 applications that work in a low bandwidth environment using XML/XSLT, REST, Javascript/GWT/HTML, SQL, Java, and various multi-media toolkits such as GStreamer, FFMpeg and VLC.You would be assigned to the customer's facilities full time and responsible for interfacing with various other team members, including other developers, program managers, contractors, and government employees. You would be responsible for performing product design, programming, unit testing, bug verification, and release testing. You would likely be asked to operate in an agile team setting, with minimal supervision.
Essential Attributes:
- A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
- 3+ years professional Java development
- 1+ years professional Java web application development (Tomcat, Servlets, Jersey)
- 1+ years professional XSLT development
Desired Attributes:
- Development according to STIG
- Experience with C2 (Command and Control) mapping systems
- Experience with telemetry and mapping protocols (VMF, KML, ESD, KLV)
- In-depth knowledge of the MPEG2, MPEG4, and H.264 video formats
- Experience with video processing including encoding and transcoding
- Experience with video transmission via UDP, RTSP, and HTTP
- Experience with RESTful web services
- Experience with GWT or JavaScript frameworks
- Familiarity with military work environments
